Week 9 – Thursday Slate
* = Possible Captains
GB vs SF (o/u 49 points; GB -7.5 points)
Aaron Rodgers* – Rodgers is having a solid season so far. In the last 5 matchups, he has only finished once outside of QB #8 on the week. The last couple weeks have been really good since he has gotten Devante Adams back passing for 4 and 3 TDs respectively. He has also seen the emergence of Robert Tonyan and this week he might even get Alan Lazard back. With an o/u of 49 points, expect GB to get up early and Rodgers to have a fine game against a very banged up SF team.
Nick Mullens* – Mullens is a value play this week. He had a decent outing last week against Seattle with 18 fantasy points and a QB#16 finish on the week. SF usually likes to run the ball and eat up the clock but with GB being a 7.5-point favorite, he will have to sling the ball to stay in the game. He might even be playing from behind most of the game and he should have a safe floor.
Aaron Jones* – Jones have been banged up and have missed the last couple games. He is currently tagged as questionable at the time of writing this article but if he plays, he is a locked and loaded RB1 this week. In all the games Jones have played this season, he has never finished outside RB#14 on the week. That is really solid and consistent from a RB. Also, with GB being a heavy point favorite, watch for them to run and eat up the clock if they get up early in the game.
Jerick McKinnon / Jamical Hasty – With all the injuries in the SF backfield, McKinnon and Hasty are the only 2 healthy RBs. McKinnon is their primary receiving RB while Hasty should lead in attempts but both of them should be getting plenty of work this week. I would personally prefer Hasty due to guaranteed volume and a safer floor but if you in a pinch and really needed that value pick, McKinnon is also not a bad option.
Tyler Ervin / Dexter Williams – With Jones most likely out and Williams in the COVID protocol, that leaves the GB backfield to Ervin and Williams. Ervin is their primary pass catcher out of the backfield with Williams could be the change of pace back. In either case, SF defense is no joke and I would still play Ervin over Williams but ONLY if Jones is ruled out.
Davante Adams* – Since their bye week return, Adams has led the league in targets and target share % on a team. Rodgers fully trusts Adams and he should be locked and loaded in the WR1 category with getting 10, 16 and 11 targets over the last 3 weeks. He should see a similar target range this week. A stack with him and Rodgers should be really good. He has finished as the WR#2 on the week in the last 2 weeks against Minnesota and Houston. SF were also torched by Seattle WRs Metcalf/Moore/Locket for a combined more than 50 fantasy points last week.
Trent Taylor/Richie James – With WRs Aiyuk and Samuel both ruled out for tonight, Taylor and James will look to fill in. For great price tags, plug one or both of these guys into your lineup for a great floor and possible touchdown upside.
Robert Tonyan – Tonyan should also be a safe player with the volume he is getting in the TE wasteland. He is also coming off a red-hot performance last week where he finished as the TE#5 on the week with 7 targets, 5 receptions and 79 yards. This line would have looked a lot better if he had found the endzone. Rodgers is looking at him often and willing to even throw it to him deep. A stack of Tonyan and Rodgers is also not a bad play this week.
